This had to be one of the best books I have ever read. It had a great story line plus it was a tad scientific. I loved how mathematics was a huge part of the story. I found the story really fresh and I became a real fan of Neal Stephenson. Thanks Russ for the recomendation.

If you like Stephenson you will like this. I mean it is long and some of it gets downright technical but it's spread out over world war II and the 80's and 90's. It traverses the world and mixes some historic facts with some good Stephenson fiction.
If you don't like tech or math or fortune hunting stay away! If you do.. enjoy.

Unfortunately I must say that I was disappointed by this book. It was just so freakin' long that it was a chore to finish. I really enjoyed a lot of what was going on - especially Bobby Shaftoe & Waterhouse, but I was slighty bored by the sections written about the present. I'd have rather if it was spread out more and written in the form of a trilogy or quartet, instead of all crammed into one book. There was just too much going on.
