The third installment of the Godfather trilogy is a good read, however does not measure up to the previous two (Godfather & The Last Don). In my (humble) opinion the characters are not developed enough and the story comes to an abrupt end--the book almost reads like an outline to what could have been an outstanding book. Unfortunately, Puzo was very ill during this period and died shortly before the book was published, certainly as good an excuse as any as to why the story doesn't develop as it should and the great detail which is usually a trade mark of Puzo is missing. That being said the book is still an enjoyable read, however doesn;t come close to his previous works.
