Websites can fingerprint/track us in yet another way. I do think a capitalistic company with shareholders will maximize every advantage they could they would be defying their charter, so they will use it.
And if the tech is solid, they can still talk you into letting them in. Check URLs and be aware when someone wants to connect over some unfamiliar video tech or give them the power to install software on your machine.
